Opening Ceremony of Global Money Week 2026

The Albanian Association of Banks (AAB), in cooperation with the Bank of Albania and institutional partners, joins once again this year in the organization of Global Money Week, marking the 12th year of implementing this initiative in Albania.

This year carries particular significance, as it coincides with the 100th anniversary of Albania’s national currency, linking the country’s financial history with its future and highlighting the importance of financial education in an increasingly digital world.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Spiro Brumbulli, Secretary General of AAB, emphasized that finance is undergoing a profound digital transformation, where payments and banking services are just a click away. At the same time, he noted the growing need for knowledge on security and protection against cyber fraud. He underlined that financial education should be a continuous process, starting from an early age and extending beyond awareness-raising activities.

The event was also addressed by Mr. Gent Sejko, Governor of the Bank of Albania, and Ms. Herida Duro, Deputy Minister of Education, who highlighted the importance of financial education for societal well-being and for preparing young people to face future challenges.

In addition to the opening ceremony on March 17, numerous educational activities will take place throughout the week across the country, including open lectures, competitions, and interactive initiatives, with the aim of empowering young people to make informed financial decisions.

AAB member banks Banka Kombëtare Tregtare, Credins Bank, ProCredit Bank, Tirana Bank, and Union Bank continue to actively contribute to this initiative by supporting educational competitions, whose winners were present at the ceremony.

Raiffeisen Bank Albania also supports the participation of the winning team in the European Money Quiz in Brussels.

Financial education is not just an activity, it is a long-term investment in a more informed society and a more sustainable economy.
