AAB participates in the workshop on Open Banking

On May 7, 2024, the Albanian Association of Banks (AAB) was at the discussion table on Open Banking by National Authority on Electronic Certificaton and Cyber Security (AKCESK). The event brought together key stakeholders to discuss issues related to the development of open banking in Albania. Representatives from structures responsible for Open Banking in banks attended, focusing on the key aspects of this initiative.
Speakers in this event: Mrs. Delina Ibrahimaj: Minister of State for Entrepreneurship and Business Climate, Mr. Endrit Yzeiraj: Deputy Ministry of Economy, Culture and Innovation; Ms. Luljeta Minxhozi: First Deputy Governor of the Bank of Albania; Ms. Mirlinda Karçanaj, General Director of AKSHI; Mr. Ervin Koçi: General Director of the Financial Intelligence Agency.
During the event, important topics were covered, including the certifying authority that will offer qualified certificate services for open banking. AAB raised concerns about the certification process, asking questions such as who will be the certifying authority, what will be the process for issuing certificates, and whether test certificates would be available before the system goes live.
In conclusion, it was agreed that banks could submit a list of attributes that certificates issued by AKSHI should have. This collaborative approach aims to ensure a smooth transition to open banking and address any outstanding concerns.
