AAB hosts the 2024 Year – End Gala Dinner
On December 18, 2024, the AAB organized the 2024 Year – End Gala Dinner, an annual tradition that unites high-level executive directors and representatives of the financial system and AAB member banks. Among the distinguished attendees were the Governor of the Bank of Albania, Mr. Gent Sejko, the Executive General Director of the Financial Supervisory Authority, Ms. Mimoza Kaçi, and the General Director of the Deposit Insurance Agency, Mr. Genci Mamani.
During his address, the Governor of the Bank of Albania, Mr. Gent Sejko, reflected on the country’s significant economic achievements in 2024. He remarked: “This year, the Albanian economy grew by approximately 4%, generating increased employment, higher wages, and greater income for families and businesses. Inflation was halved, dropping to 2.2%, and the banking sector maintained its critical role as an effective financial intermediary, driving a robust 16% credit growth compared to the previous year. These financial sustainability outcomes underscore the strength and stability of the Albanian banking sector.”
AAB President, Mr. Bledar Shella, also addressed the audience, highlighting the essential role of the banking sector in Albania’s economic development. He noted that regional cooperation and strategic partnerships were central to AAB’s initiatives in 2024, focusing on improving access to financial services and strengthening financial stability.
Reflecting on the year’s accomplishments, he stated: “The 2024 has been a milestone year for AAB, marking the 25th anniversary of our establishment. The completion of the Open Banking project was a leap forward in innovation and digitalization, providing customers with easier and more integrated access. Our strategic agreement with the IFC for developing digital financial services and the drafting of the Credit Bureau law are key achievements that enhance financial transparency and risk management in lending. We also deepened our regional partnerships, notably with the Kosova Banking Association, fostering new opportunities for collaboration and knowledge-sharing to support our shared goals.”
The evening extended in a celebratory atmosphere, offering participants the chance to connect and reflect on the successes of the past year.
