Kick-off meeting for the third edition of Stock Market Learning for Bankers – 2026/2027

The third edition of Stock Market Learning (SML), a stock market simulation for banking professionals, was officially launched on 20 October 2026 with an online kick-off meeting. The initiative is organized by the Albanian Association of Banks (AAB), in cooperation with Deutsche Sparkassenstiftung für Internationale Kooperation and the Bank of Albania.
This edition has attracted 336 banking professionals from 12 banks operating in Albania, demonstrating growing interest in the initiative, which aims to strengthen financial knowledge and provide hands-on experience in investment and capital markets.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Spiro Brumbulli, Secretary General of AAB, highlighted the progress of the initiative and the growing interest it has generated among banking professionals over the years. He emphasized the value of Stock Market Learning as an opportunity to deepen participants’ understanding of financial markets, develop their analytical and decision-making skills, and promote learning through practical experience. Continuing the tradition of previous editions, the five participants who achieve the best results in managing their virtual portfolios will receive cash prizes funded by AAB, recognizing their commitment and performance throughout the competition.
The meeting also featured welcoming remarks by Mr. Altin Tanku, Director of the Research Department at the Bank of Albania; Ms. Annika Peukert, Project Manager at Sparkassenstiftung in Bonn; and Ms. Liliana Colavit, representative of Sparkasse Märkisches Sauerland Bank. They highlighted the importance of the initiative in developing knowledge and practical skills in the field of investment.
The event continued with an informative and practical workshop organised by Sparkassenstiftung and led by capital markets expert Mr. Artan Gjergji. During the session, participants were introduced to the rules and mechanics of the simulation, the principles of stock market investing, and strategies for managing a virtual portfolio. Through practical examples and expert guidance, they gained valuable insights into analysing financial markets, diversifying investments, and making informed decisions throughout the competition.
Stock Market Learning 2026/2027 will run from October 2026 to January 2027, giving participants the opportunity to apply their knowledge in a simulated financial market environment while fostering strategic thinking, healthy competition, and the exchange of experience among banking professionals.
AAB thanks its partners for their continued cooperation and support, as well as all participants for their interest and commitment, and wishes them every success in this new edition of Stock Market Learning!
