AAB Technical Committees Meet to Discuss Priorities for 2027

On 25 September, AAB brought together the Chairs and Vice-Chairs of its 10 Technical Committees for a working meeting focused on the progress of AAB’s activities throughout 2026 and the planning of priorities for the year ahead.

The meeting reviewed the work carried out during 2026, including initiatives undertaken in cooperation with the Bank of Albania, public institutions, and sector partners. Key areas of focus included developments in payments, financial reporting, the regulatory framework, digitalisation, and professional development.

One of the key projects in 2026 has been Instant Payments, alongside initiatives under the Cashless Economy and the transition towards a unified financial reporting standard. At the same time, work has continued on further aligning the regulatory framework with EU standards and preparing for the implementation of new regulatory requirements.

For 2027, financial literacy was identified as an area deserving greater attention, as an important component of the sector’s development and of how citizens and businesses interact with financial services. In this context, AAB will seek to strengthen cooperation with universities, creating more opportunities for students to engage with the banking sector, exchange knowledge and practical experience, and gain a better understanding of the needs of the younger generation.

Artificial intelligence and emerging technologies will also receive increased attention through training and the exchange of best practices. At the same time, work will continue in the areas of banking legislation and alignment with the European Union framework, as well as strengthening coordination and knowledge-sharing among the Technical Committees. Regional cooperation will also remain on the agenda, particularly in relation to the exchange of practices in payments and technological developments.

From the projects of 2026 to the priorities for 2027, the work of AAB’s 10 Technical Committees will continue to support AAB in addressing the developments and needs of the banking sector.
