Albanian Association of Banks contributes to regional dialogue on strengthening the banking sector in the Western Balkans

The Albanian Association of Banks (AAB) participated in the “Kosova Finance Forum 2026”, an important regional platform that brought together in Pristina representatives of international financial institutions, policymakers, banking industry leaders, and economic experts to discuss the latest economic developments and trends shaping the financial markets of the Western Balkans.
Under this year’s theme, “Building Trust in the Financial Markets of the Western Balkans,” the forum addressed key issues such as capital mobilization for sustainable growth, infrastructure financing through public-private partnerships, digital transformation and fintech, as well as the role of regional cooperation in strengthening financial stability and advancing convergence with European Union standards.
As part of the thematic sessions, Mr. Spiro Brumbulli, Secretary General of the Albanian Association of Banks, participated as a panelist in the session “The Role of Banking Associations in Strengthening Banking Sectors in the Western Balkans,” organized by the Kosovo Banking Association. The panel was moderated by Mr. Petrit Balija, Chief Executive Officer of the Kosovo Banking Association, and brought together distinguished figures from the financial industry, including Ms. Maja Stevkova Shterieva, President of the Macedonian Banking Association, Mr. Alexander Kergozou, Associate Director at Finalta by McKinsey, and Mr. Visar Perani, IFC Country Officer for Kosovo and North Macedonia.
Discussions focused on the role banking associations play in strengthening the financial sector, building bridges of cooperation between the industry and regulators, advancing regulatory reforms, and supporting the transformation of the banking sector toward more innovative, efficient, and inclusive models.
AAB’s participation in this forum reaffirms its ongoing commitment to actively contribute to regional dialogue and strengthen interinstitutional cooperation in support of the development of a modern, resilient banking sector aligned with European standards.
