AAB and IFC Organize Workshop on Post-Implementation Developments of SEPA in Albania

On May 13, AAB organized the workshop “IFC_SEPA SCT Post Go-Live for Banks in Albania”, focusing on the post-implementation phase of SEPA SCT in Albania and the opportunities this development brings for the banking sector and its customers.

The event brought together members of AAB’s Payments, Cards, Digitalization and Alternative Channels Committee, as well as representatives of the banking sector engaged in the SEPA integration process and its operational aspects.

PwC representatives Merima Mahmutović and Nina Mikunovič presented the latest developments and perspectives of SEPA in Albania, with a particular focus on the progress of the SEPA SCT system, which has been operational in the country since October 2025. With second-level banks now operating steadily within the system, discussions focused on the potential of SEPA beyond regulatory compliance, including increased operational efficiency, process automation, the development of new services, expansion of the customer base, and the creation of broader benefits for businesses and citizens.

The workshop was supported by IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, in partnership with the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).
