The Second Edition of the “Stock Market Learning Competition for Bankers” Kicks Off

On 14 October 2025, the “Stock Market Learning Competition for Bankers” has officially launched. The event was organized by the Albanian Association of Banks (AAB), in partnership with German Sparkassenstiftung Albania and with the support of the Financial Education Sector at the Bank of Albania.

This initiative represents another key step in advancing financial education within the context of Albania’s EU accession process (Chapter 4 – Free Movement of Capital). Participants were welcomed by Deputy Governor of the Bank of Albania, Ms. Natasha Ahmetaj, who opened the ceremony with her remarks.

Mr. Spiro Brumbulli, Secretary General of AAB, highlighted the competition as an innovative platform that connects theoretical knowledge with practical market experience. He underscored that financial education is vital for enhancing professional skills and fostering the sustainable development of the banking sector, emphasizing that the broad participation of Albanian banks and the year-on-year growth in interest reflect the sector’s dedication to employee development and professional growth.

The event also featured Mr. Torsten Knapmeyer, Board Member of DekaBank Deutsche Girozentrale, Frankfurt, and Ms. Anja Deinzer, Director of German Sparkassenstiftung Albania, who shared insights on financial education and stressed its crucial role in preparing skilled banking professionals.

Now in its second edition, the competition has captured growing interest from Albanian banks. This year, over 150 bankers registered, doubling participation compared to the 75 participants in the inaugural edition. The competition runs online, allowing participants to analyze real market data, manage and invest virtual fund portfolios, and gain hands-on experience in financial decision-making over a three-month period.
