On December 6, 2019, the Albanian Association of Banks (AAB), in co-operation with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and with the support of SECO, organized a roundtable on “Revitalizing lending and reducing NPLs”. This activity was carried out following the co-ordination of the work on the implementation of the “Platform for revitalization of credits” agreed between the Bank of Albania and AAB, and aimed to provide a forum for identifying issues in accordance with point 8 of the “Platform for revitalization of credits”.
The event was attended by representatives from the legal and risk management departments of AAB member banks, representatives of the Bank of Albania, the World Bank, IFC, the EU Delegation.
The activity was welcomed by AAB Secretary General, Mr. Spiro Brumbulli, and IFC Representative in Albania, Mrs. Laura Qorlaze.
Subsequently, discussions focused on identifying actions that help reduce credit risk and create better conditions for credit growth. The Head of Supervision Department at the Bank of Albania, Mr. Deniz Deralla and IFC Advisor, Mr. Ervin Mete participated.
The platform with concrete objectives for revitalizing lending in the Albanian economy engages the Bank of Albania and the banking system with the aim of promoting lending.
