On May 31, 2022, AAB organised an open lesson at European University of Tirana (UET) with the participation of students and professors of the Faculty of Finance and Economy in the framework of its collaboration with academia in regard to financial literacy. AAB was represented by Ms. Iva Ikonomi, Head of Retail at Fibank, who gave an overview on importance of money management and in particular on bank transparency. This was an event organized in term of financial education and the cooperation with academia.

On March 30, 2022, the Albanian Association of Banks (AAB), in cooperation with the Bank of Albania and with the support of the Ministry of Education and Sports and the Deposit Insurance Agency (ASD), organized for the fourth time the European Money Quiz with the participation of 360 students aged 13-15 from 58 schools from all over the country. The competition was conducted online and was shown on Livestream on the AAB YouTube channel. Participants competed on a team basis organized through the online platform Kahoot!

The participating students were greeted by the first Deputy Governor of the Bank of Albania, Mrs. Luljeta Minxhozi, General Director of the Deposit Insurance Agency, Mr. Genci Mamani, and the General Secretary of AAB, Mr. Spiro Brumbulli.

The winning team is from the 12-year-old non-public school “Hafiz Ali Podgorica” ​​in Durrës and consists of students: Arber Kertalli and Besart Ceka.

The second place winning team is from the 9-year-old school “Emin Duraku” in Tirana and consists of Redon Shehu and Lidra Shehu.

The third place winning team is from the 9-year-old “Imelda Lambertini” school in Elbasan and consists of Mishel Balla and Anelia Shehu.

The winning team will compete representing Albania in the European Money Quiz final, which will take place online on May 10, 2022.

A special thanks to the teachers  Raimonda Estrefi,  Etilda Muhaj, and Jugerta Kabashi who enabled the organization and preparation of the winning teams.

The winners of the first 3 places in the competition will be awarded the prizes made possible by the Deposit Insurance Agency, as follows:

  • First place – 40,000 ALL
  • Second place – 30,000 ALL
  • Third place – 20,000 ALL

In addition, the Bank of Albania will reward the teachers of the winning teams with symbolic gifts.

On March 24 and 25, 2022, as part of Money Week, in cooperation with member banks, AAB organized open lectures on the topic “Youth and Digital Banking”. Bank representatives made the students aware of the importance of financial culture as part of general education. During the lectures, the orientation and priority that banks have towards meeting the needs of customers through digital channels were presented, since the change in consumer behavior forces banks to offer products and services not only in a traditional way. The future belongs to the digital way!

On March 23, 2022, the Albanian Association of Banks (AAB) organized an open lecture at the Mediterranean University of Albania (UMSH) with the participation of students and professors from the Faculty of Economics. The activity is part of AAB events within the Money Week, a week dedicated to financial education.

The event was opened by Prof.Assoc.Dr. Orkida Ilollari, Director of Master Programs, at UMSh. She informed the participants more broadly about the organization’s purpose.

The participants were greeted by Dr. Spiro Brumbulli, AAB Secretary General, who acquainted the audience with the initiatives undertaken and the importance of financial education as one of the main pillars of the AAB activity.

The lecture was delivered by Mrs. Irida Huta, Chairperson of the Payment, Cards, Digitalization & Alternative Channels Committee at AAB, as well as Head of the Alternative Cards and Channels Sector at OTP Bank Albania. She presented the orientation and advantage that banks have towards meeting the needs of customers through digital channels.

Mrs. Ilollari continued the discussion about digital banking.

On 18 mars 2022, the AAB Secretary General, Dr. Spiro Brumbulli organized an open lecture on crypto assets. This lecture was attended by the students of the Bachelor study program, Faculty of Bussines at “Alexander Moisiu” University, Durres.

On February 15, 2022, the AAB Chairman, Mr. Bledar Shella met the economic journalists of the main media and portals in the country. Mr. Shella introduced the journalists with an overview of banks’ performance for 2022. The priorities of AAB for 2022 and the importance of the role of the media in financial education and digitalization issues were among the main topics of discussion.

The Albanian Association of Banks (AAB) on February 9, 2022, promoted the Albanian edition of the book “First steps in finance” in the premises of the “Emin Duraku” school in Tirana. The promotion of the book took place in the presence of the principal and ninth grade students of the school, who attended the interesting presentation.

The promotional event continued with information on the “Money Quiz” contest. This competition will be organized on March 30 by AAB.

On February 8, 2022, the AAB Secretary General, Mr. Spiro Brumbulli, was invited to the forum organized by the European University of Tirana to deliver a speech on “Cryptocurrencies in the Albanian market” with students of excellence of bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in Economics and Finance.
