AAB participates in the Annual Conference of the Bank of Albania 2019


On October 11, 2019, the Bank of Albania, in collaboration with the London School of
Economics and Political Science (LSE) organized the annual conference entitled “A Brave New
World? The Future of Banking in Emerging Europe. Rethinking Size, Structure, Ownership,
Policies and Incentives”. This conference was organized under the auspices of the Governor of
the Bank of Albania, Mr. Gent Sejko, with the participation of the President of the Republic of
Albania, H.E. Ilir Meta, the Minister of Finance and Economy, Ms. Anila Denaj, the
Chairman of the Parliamentary Commission for Finance and Economy, Mr. Arben Ahmetaj, the
representatives of the Cabinet and deputies of the Albanian Parliament. High representatives of
the central banks, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited to Tirana, representatives of
international financial institutions e.g. the International Monetary Fund, World Bank, European
Bank for Reconstruction and Development, academic circle, banking and financial system
representatives, media, and Bank of Albania staff.

The Chairman of the Albanian Association of Banks, Mr. Silvio Pedrazzi, participant to this
conference, introduced the evolution of the banking system over the last 3 years and potential
developments. The presentation was part of the first session which focused on the facts on the
ground: Restructuring, technological change, and the evolving regulatory and monetary policy
